Appearance[]

Gyou

Gyou in Karacters

Gyou is an orange insectoid with six limbs, a segmented body, a pair of wings, and a head bearing his facial features. Gyou's appearance may be a pun of the word "firefly", as his life takes place in the Land of Time which is associated with the element of Fire, and his head appears to be in flames. He is able to fly, as evidenced during his life, and bears a pair of eyes on his chest segment.

Role[]

Gyou's mission in life is to participate in the Ritual of Time. His life takes place in the Land of Time, where he flies over the land before becoming dizzy and landing near a candle. Once on the ground, he uses the flame from his head to light the candle, engulfing himself in flames and burning to death in the process. This will fulfill Gyou's purpose, earning the player Gyou's nameplate.

Name origin[]

From what we know based on the naming pattern of Rin's other incarnations, it can be assumed that Gyou's name is supposed to be a syllable of the Kuji (九字), a series of nine syllables. The syllables in order are Rin (臨), Pyō (兵), Tō (闘), Sha (者), Kai (皆), Jin (陣), Retsu (列), Zen (前) and Gyou (行).
